AUSA chapter elects new officers

August 2, 2007

The Henry Leavenworth Chapter of the Association of the United States Army's general membership recently elected Rolly Dessert and Mike Parker as president and vice president, respectively.

Dessert, an associate with Booz Allen Hamilton since 2003, previously served as chief executive administrator for the Leavenworth Catholic Schools from 1999 to 2002. Dessert retired from the Army in 1999 as a colonel. He is a Lansing resident.

Parker is a federal coordinating officer with duty at FEMA's Region 7 Headquarters in Kansas City. Prior to joining FEMA, Mike was the director of defense and joint force experimentation for Navigator Development Group Inc. He retired from the Army in 2004 as a colonel and is a Leavenworth resident.

The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) is a private, nonprofit, professional educational association of over 100,000 individual, business and organizational members dedicated to maintaining a strong national defense with special emphasis on Landpower and the essential role of the United States Army. AUSA is the only professional organization uniquely supporting the needs and interests of all components of America's Army (Active Duty, Army Reserve, National Guard, Department of Army Civilians, retirees, and family members). AUSA also supports the maintenance of a strong national defense industrial base.

The local chapter of this national organization is the voice for America's soldiers, in Leavenworth, Lansing and surrounding communities. It fosters public support of the Army's role in national security, while providing professional education and information programs. Volunteers that staff local chapter operations are largely retired veterans or those with a desire to otherwise forward the causes they champion.
