No school or basketball Tuesday; plus more weather-related closings and cancellations

An ice storm rolled into Leavenworth County on Monday evening and was expected to continue into the day Tuesday. That prompted the Lansing School District to cancel classes at all district schools for Tuesday.

The announcement was posted Monday night on the district's Web site, In addition to the school closings, the Web site said the Lansing High School chorr concert originally scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 12, has been moved to Monday, Dec. 17.

Also, the Lansing High boys and girls basketball games against Basehor-Linwood originally scheduled to be played Tuesday night at LHS have been postponed until Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Other weather-related school closings

Fort Leavenworth School District 207 has canceled classes for Tuesday.

Upper Iowa University at Fort Leavenworth has canceled classes for Tuesday.

Webster University at Fort Leavenworth has canceled classes for Tuesday.

Public and parochial schools in Leavenworth have called off classes for Tuesday.

Leavenworth County officials decided to shut down county offices Tuesday

Kansas City Kansas Community College has canceled classes Tuesday.

The closing includes the Council on Aging, Leavenworth County Health Department, the County Annex in Tonganoxie and the Leavenworth County Justice Center, Tellefson said. Not included in the closing are the Sheriff's Office and Public Works Department.

The Lansing Community Club's monthly meeting scheduled for tomorrow at noon has been canceled due to inclement weather. The community club will next meet on Tuesday, January 16, at noon at the Lansing Community Center, 800 First Terrace. The club's December hostesses will be hosting the January meeting.
