Basehor-Linwood boys basketball team loses against tough competition at Emporia tourney
December 12, 2007
Basehor-Linwood was roughed up playing a brutal stretch of games at the Emporia boy’s basketball tournament over the weekend. The Bobcats dropped thee games, two in blowout fashion. BLHS almost knocked off Blue Valley West in the first round, but fell 52-48. Chandler Schaake went for 17 and Tanner Swafford had 12. The Bobcats were tied after three quarters but couldn’t close the game out.
BLHS basketball team captures title
December 12, 2007
The Basehor-Linwood girls’ basketball team’s tournament championship victory over St. James Academy didn’t exactly feel like it was the biggest game played last week. The Bobcats had already beaten one of Kansas City’s best basketball players in the tournament. On top of that, the championship game had a strange feel to it. The venue of the girls basketball game had changed from Central Heights High School to St. James Academy. The decision to play at St. James Academy was made because both teams said they could get to the school easier than driving to Richmond, Kan., south of Ottawa, where Central Heights is located. The weather outside lessened what might have been a bigger crowd and switched the tip time to 3 p.m.

Basehor girls win game to remember

Sometimes plans slip away. Elaborate plans fall with a slip in the ice. I planned to attend a bunch of sporting events Saturday. I planned to watch the basketball tournaments where the Basehor-Linwood and Bonner Springs teams were playing. The schedules had broken in my favor. Times were lined up. Ice was not going to stand in my way.

She is all a 3-year-old should be, and more. Her laughter breaks out, wafts above the dine of football games and the clatter of dishes, like a reminder of all things good. She is dressed in a pink dress, grey striped socks, and tennis shoes and has ribbons in her hair.

More than 200 residents braved slick streets and freezing temperatures Friday evening and ventured out to the Leavenworth County Courthouse to take part in the county’s second-annual Christmas open house.
