Lansing High grad makes history with JCCC track
Samantha Parr, a former track standout at Lansing High and a 2006 LHS graduate, recently entered the record books at Johnson County Community College.
Parr, a freshman on the JCCC track team, was part of the distance medley relay team that set a new school record Feb. 9 at the Mule Relays at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo.
Parr and teammates Jackie Jamison, Leslie Reynolds and Christa Heideman finished first in 12 minutes, 43.79 seconds. The previous school record of 12:43.18 was set two years ago at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships.
Parr competed in the long sprints at LHS. She qualified for state last year in the 400-meter dash and the 1,600-meter relay.
