Wilfred H. “Blondie” Rettele
Mass of Christian Burial for Wilfred H. "Blondie" Rettele, 89, of Leavenworth, was Monday, Feb. 19, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Lansing. Burial was at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Rettele died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at St. John Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 6, 1917, in Seneca, the son of William M. and Elizabeth (Hulsing) Rettele.
He was retired from Great Western Manufacturing. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and had served on the Lansing City Council from 1965 to 1969.
On Nov. 24, 1942, he married Catherine Ronnebaum in Seneca; she died in March of 2000. A daughter, Connie, died in 1946.
Survivors include three children, Wilfred "Bill" (Carolyn) Rettele, Leavenworth, Jeanette (Kenneth) Duncan, Clinton, Mo., and Alice (Van) Roberts, Gravois Mills, Mo.; four sisters, Aurelia Heinen, Seneca, Ali Rose Winterscheidt, Seneca, Dorothy Feichtinger, Johnson, Neb., and Elizabeth Altenhofen, Seneca; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
