Lansing wins Holton Invitational
Despite filling just 10 of 14 varsity weight classes at the Holton Invitational on Saturday, the Lansing High wrestling team still captured first place.
Four Lions won their weight classes, two placed third, two were fourth and one was fifth. Wood's record now is 26-1.
Junior 103-pounder Dennis Wood posted a 3-0 record and placed first. Two of his wins were by pin and the other by technical fall.
Senior 140-pounder Kyle Buehler went 3-0 and won his weight class. His record now is 25-2.
Fresh off a championship performance at the Bobcat Classic, junior 145-pounder Nick Flynn won two matches by pin and a third by technical fall to win is weight class. He is now 26-3 this season.
Sophomore Grant Hinckley was Lansing's final champion. He had two pins and a technical fall to win the 160-pound weight class.
Freshman Cullen Demarest (125 pounds) went 2-1 and junior Brad Terron (215) both was 3-1. Both placed third.
Fourth-place finishes were turned in by senior 119-pounder Scott Keller and senior 152-pounder Brad Zink. Sophomore Wes Appleget was fifth at 130 pounds.
