City seeks volunteer applicants
The city is accepting applications for four volunteer positions: a member of the city's Tree Board and commissioners to lead the Parks and Recreation Department's softball, football and cheerleading programs.
The person selected for the Tree Board post would hold a three-year term on the board. Duties would include attending quarterly meetings, assisting in maintaining Lansing's status as a Tree City USA, participating in discussions and making recommendations concerning trees to the City Council, and assisting in various related events.
The softball, football and cheerleading commissioners each would serve a two-year term on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Duties would include overseeing their particular program, attending board meetings on the second Thursday of every other month, participating in discussions and making recommendations concerning the Parks and Recreation programs to the City Council, and assisting in various related events.
Interested applicants should apply in person from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at City Hall, 800 First Terrace. Applications can be downloaded at www.lansing.ks.us.
The application deadline is March 7.
