Yvonne Piper Hawk
A funeral Mass for Yvonne Piper Hawk, 64, Leavenworth, was Monday, July 23, at the Memorial Chapel at Fort Leavenworth.
Mrs. Hawk died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in a Kansas City hospice after battling cancer.
Mrs. Hawk was born in 1943 in Stockholm, Sweden, the daughter of Gunnar Carl Piper and Adele Madeleine Piper.
At age of 20, she came to the United States and worked as a nanny in Arizona, and later worked as a service agent for American Airlines.
Yvonne and her family traveled extensively in the United States and Europe before settling in the Leavenworth community in 1989.
She began the Creative Travel agency in Lansing. Later, she and her husband formed Leavenworth Travel and Creative Tours.
In 1965, she married retired Col. Michael Hawk. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Christina Ham-mond; five grandchildren; a sister, Marianne Piper; and a brother, Lennart Piper.
Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, was in charge of arrangements.
