Lansing Pharmacy moves to avoid construction

June 7, 2007

In an effort to stay one step ahead of the Main Street construction, Lansing Pharmacy will be moving to a new location after four and a half years of service at its current location at 617 N. Main St.

The move was brought on by the impending blockage of the pharmacy's parking lot due to construction expansion along Main Street.

"Basically we realized we were going to have to move because we would have no parking," said Erika Arwine, a pharmacist with Lansing Pharmacy.

Arwine said the store was informed in December about plans for the site outside the store. She said the store had not seen a decline in sales since the start of the construction and would not have considered moving if it had not been for the loss of parking that customers needed.

"It's costly, but in the end, it's better to serve our customers," she said.

Lansing Pharmacy will move to 121 Express Drive, Suite A, in the Carriage Hills Plaza development. The store will close for the final time at its current location at 1 p.m. Friday, June 15. Employees will help with the move throughout the weekend, and the store will reopen in the new location Monday, June 18.

Arwine said everything would stay the same within the store. She said Lansing Pharmacy chose a location that would still allow it to have a drive-through window to serve customers.

Despite the move, Arwine said that they were still excited about the new location and glad they found a solution that would better serve their customers.

Other stores going into the Carriage Hills Plaza are Burger King, Arby's and a local Mexican food restaurant at the opposite end of the pharmacy's new location.

Scott Fishman, one of the developers of the Carriage Hills Plaza, said there was still about 4,000 square feet of open space left in the development.
