Pinehurst center now full

Phase II plans under way

The Pinehurst Retail building in Basehor is now full.

Debbie Breuer, leasing manager for Pinehurst Retail, said three more leases have been signed as well as two more letters of intent for space in the 10,500-square-foot building on U.S. Highway 24-40 between 155th Street and 158th Street.

Sunset Mortgage and A Season to Remember Pools and Spas are two of the businesses willing to make the announcement about their new locations.

While Sunset Mortgage has been in Tonganoxie almost nine years, branch manager Leisa Bray said it was time for a change.

"We generate a lot of business outside of Tonganoxie so it just makes sense to move east," she said. "With all its (Basehor) growth, it just seems perfect for us to be there."

The company arranges both residential and commercial mortgages with more than 200 lenders available for customers to choose from based on their needs and credit.

Bray said Sunset hoped to be up and running in the new location by June 1.

"We're extremely excited to come to Basehor," she said. "I grew up there, so it will be nice to be back."

John Martino and Nancy Jackson, co-owners of A Season to Remember, said customer convenience and safety were what drove the decision to move from their current location on Kansas Highway 7, just north of Leavenworth Road.

"We just feel it's going to be better access for people," Jackson said. "All of our customers that we've talked to and told are excited that we're moving."

The pool and spa company has only been open for about a year but offers the community about 30 years of pool and spa installation, sales and service experience.

Jackson said they build in-ground and above-ground pools, conduct free water testing, sell chemicals and parts and sell and refurbish spas. They also carry a line of smoker grill and accessories.

Jackson said they hope to be open in their new location sometime next week.

While the building was set to have seven available spaces, some were divided at the leasers' request to make room for eight tenants, Breuer said. The first three businesses to move in, Subway, Front Row Video and Bask Tanning, are all now open.

Now that the first building is leased, plans for construction of a second building to the west are under way. Four identical buildings total are planned for the area between 155th Street and 158th Street.

"We do have some good leads on leases for the next building, and we will be signing leases before the second building is constructed," Breuer said. "We want some commitment before we get going."
