LHS baseball tops Highland Park, advances to regional finals
The Lansing High baseball team jumped out to an early lead and then hung on for an 8-3 victory over Highland Park in the opening round of the Class 5A baseball regional tournament at Seaman High School in Topeka.
Lansing scored four runs early, but Highland Park rallied in the top of the fifth inning. The Scots scored three runs and had the bases loaded with no outs before the Lions halted the rally.
LHS then scored four more runs in the bottom of the sixth and put the game away.
Lansing (12-9) will play the winner of Seaman and Schlagle at 7 p.m. tonight in the regional finals. The winner of that game advances to the state tournament.
