Thomas A. “Tom” McCool
Services for Thomas A. "Tom" McCool, 54, of Lansing, were Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, Leavenworth.
Mr. McCool died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., from injuries suffered in an accident at the Iatan Power Plant near Weston, Mo.
He was born July 31, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Clifford L. Sr. and Alice D. Clason McCool. He was a lifelong resident of the Piper and Lansing areas.
Mr. McCool was an operations shift foreman at the Kansas City Power and Light Iatan Plant, having worked there since 1980. He also served as a union steward from 1980 to 2000. He was a 1970 graduate of Piper High School.
He married Joyce E. Durham on Jan. 22, 1972, in Lansing. She survives at the home. Other survivors include three sons, Shawn and Cody, both of Nashville, Tenn., and Corey, Alamagorda, N.M.; and two sisters, Martha Krumm of Edward, Okla., and Mary Tamayo of San Francisco, Calif.
The family suggests memorials to the KU Medical Center's Burn Unit, sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Oskaloosa 66066.
Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, along with R.L. Leintz Funeral Home, assisted the family with arrangements.
