Red Raiders, Great Whites, Red Bulls alive in playoffs
Three Lansing Parks and Recreation football teams inched one step closer to the Northeast Kansas Athletic Association Super Bowl when they won their first-round playoff games on Saturday.
In the third- and fourth-grade division, the Lansing Red Raiders advanced to the semifinals with a 30-6 victory over the Lansing Jaguars. Meanwhile, the Lansing Great Whites' season ended with a 6-0 loss to Pleasant Ridge.
In the fifth- and sixth-grade division, the Lansing White Stallions moved on with a 22-6 win against Effingham. The Lansing Red Bulls remained undefeated by rolling to a 42-0 victory over Reilly and Sons. The Lansing Black Lions ended their season with a tough 30-22 loss to Pleasant Ridge.
The NEKAA playoffs resume Saturday at Pleasant Ridge High School with a 9 a.m. kickoff between the Red Bulls and Horton. The other fifth- and sixth-grade semifinal will take place at 12:45 p.m. between the Stallions and Pleasant Ridge.
The Red Raiders and Pleasant Ridge play a third- and fourth-grade semifinal at 10:15 a.m., followed by the Horton-Leavenworth Blue semifinal at 11:30 a.m.
