Piper wins girls basketball games

Piper Middle School defeated Basehor-Linwood in a pair of eighth grade girls' basketball games on Tuesday.

Piper won the varsity game 37-33.

Cara McCary scored 11 points and Maggie Hattock scored 10 to lead the Bobcats.

In addition to McCarty's double-digit performance, Sydne Eriksen and Kelsey Fenton each scored five points. Megan Downing finished the game with two points.

Piper won the junior varsity game 20-12. Hannah Gumm scored six points. Shanna Breuer, Savannah Mesh and Kelly Porting each scored two points.

The next games for the junior varsity and varsity teams are today against Eudora.

It is the last regular season game for the JV.

The varsity team plays in the Monticello Trails post season tournament on Monday and Thursday Dec. 6. Game times have not been confirmed for this tournament yet.

Basehor-Linwood defeats Perry

Hannah Gumm scored 11 points and led the Basehor-Linwood eighth grade junior varsity girls' basketball team to a 16-10 win over Perry on Nov. 20.

Kelly Porting scored three points and Abrianna Salazar added two points. In the varsity game, Basehor-Linwood won 25-21.

Hannah Tush scored eight points, which included making four-of-four foul shouts in the game's fourth quarter.

As a team, the Bobcats went six-of-six from the foul line in the quarter. Sydne Eriksen made a pair of foul shots and finished the game with eight points.

Megan Downing scored three points.

Maggie Hattock, Brooke Redmond and Kelsey Fenton each scored two points.

"These ladies had a large lead, lost it, but nailed some crucial free throws to put Perry away," coach Chris Shelby said.

Basehor-Linwood seventh grade scores

In seventh-grade play, Mill Creek defeated Basehor-Linwood 24-16 in a junior varsity game.

Davis scored 10 points to lead Basehor in the game that took place on Nov. 25.

In the varsity game, Johnson scored 18 points to lead BLMS to a 26-17 victory.

In games played Nov. 20 against Perry, Johnson scored 18 points and led Basehor to a 36-18 victory.

Perry won t he junior varsity game 10-6.

Bonner Springs Youth Wrestling Club

The Bonner Springs Wrestling Club is seeking members for the spring season. A parents meeting took place last night, but interested people can still sign up.
