Clark runs past Atchison
Clark Middle School eighth graders defeated Atchison, 30-8, on Monday.
J. J. Jackson carried the ball 10 times for 209 yards and three touchdowns in the game.
He also caught four passes for 45 yards. His touchdowns came on runs of 44, 23, and 90 yards respectively.
"J. J. Jackson had a heck of a day," Dan Streit said. "His 209 yards rushing is the best I have had in my six years at the helm. I am pleased with the win, but know the boys can play a lot better than they did."
Quarterback Jordaine Smallwood completed six of eight passes for 90 yards. He also carried the ball four times for 17 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, Clark could have played better in the first half, but improved in the second half, Streit said.
J. J. Jackson lead the team in tackles as well, recording 14 solo stops. He was literally all over the field. He also had a key fumble recovery.
Lake Washburn also had a fumble recovery, while Shawn Jones had a key interception to stop another Atchison drive on fourth down. Jones also had five solo tackles.
Clark 5-1 on the season closes out the season next Tuesday at home against Leavenworth West.
