Postseason competition is set for Saturday
Substate volleyball and cross country regional champions will be crowned Saturday. The day proves a busy day for many local athletes, with meets planned throughout northeast Kansas.
Volleyball players who began working with two-a-day practices in August, will play for a chance to qualify for state on Saturday.
In Class 5A competition, Bonner Springs will play in a sub state tournament at Topeka-Seaman High School.
The Braves will play in a regional against Schlagle, Washington, Lansing, Tecumseh-Shawnee Heights, Topeka-Highland Park, Topeka-Seaman and Topeka-West.
In other Class 5A competition, Mill Valley will play in sub state at Turner High School against Gardner-Edgerton, Harmon, Sumner Academy, Turner, Wyandotte, St. Thomas Aquinas and Bishop Miege.
In class 4A competition, Basehor-Linwood will play in a substate tournament at Tonganoxie.
In cross country action, Bonner Springs will run in a 5A regional at Wyandotte County Park.
The Braves will run against Mill Valley, Harmon, Schlagle, Sumner Academy, Turner, Washington, Wyandotte, Lansing, St. Thomas Aquinas and Bishop Miege.
In Class 4A competition, Basehor-Linwood will run at Ottawa.
