Ronald V. Bareiss

Services for Ronald V. Bareiss, 67, Atchison, were Friday, Aug. 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Atchison. Burial was at Lancaster Cemetery.

Mr. Bareiss died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 at Midland Hospice in Topeka after a 10-year battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 21, 1939, in Atchison, the son of Ernest E. and Erma (Cashman) Bareiss. He was a graduate of Atchison High School and was a U.S. Air force veteran.

Mr. Bareiss had been employed with TWA overhaul base in Kansas City and Snowden Mize Athletic Store in Kansas City. He also was an import-export trade consultant with Spehart Inc., working primarily in Malaysia and Thailand. He retired in 1997 from OMI.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Pastors Bible Class and Kennedy Callers. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and spending time with his family.

He married Marlene Bramble, and they later divorced. On June 30, 1998, he married Ruth Meyer in Oregon, Mo.; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include two sons, Rodney, St. Joseph, Mo., and Randy, Farmersville, Texas; three stepchildren Renae Miskowic, stationed in Guam; and Stephen Miskowic and Daniel Miskowic, both of Lansing; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Higley of Steelville, Ill.
