Basehor-Linwood wins first football game of season
Bobcats win with Leppke’s late touchdown run
Basehor-Linwood rallied to win its first game of the season against Perry-Lecompton on Friday.
Brandon Leppke scored on a five-yard touchdown run with 48 seconds to play, giving his team a lead and eventual victory. Chandler Schaake made the two-point conversion and Basehor won 27-21.
It also was Basehor's first lead of the game.
The Bobcats trailed 14-7 at halftime in spite of the fact that Perry-Lecompton had negative 15 yards of total offense.
In the first half, Perry-Lecompton returned a fumble and a kickoff for a touchdown.
Basehor-Linwood's lone first half score was on Schaake touchdown.
In the second half, Basehor-Linwood's Tyler Miles scored a touchdown with 7:15 left to play in the third quarter. Basehor missed the extra point.
Perry-Lecompton scored on a Shane Gizmo touchdown run in the third quarter.
Basehor quarterback Brandon Leppke scored on a six-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to make it a 21-19 game.
Basehor-Linwood (1-2) plays at Clinton, Mo., on Friday.
