Bonner Springs places 12th in tournament

Members of the Bonner Springs High School volleyball team played their hearts out, but struggled in the Tonganoxie Invitational on Saturday, coach Jo Wiseman said. The Braves placed 12th overall on Saturday. “The girls just played their hearts out in their last match,” Wiseman said. “The games were all close against Perry-Lecompton. We were proud of the girls.”
Basehor wins family rivalry in overtime

When Tanner Bowers lined up to take a penalty kick with 3:02 left in overtime Monday night against Piper more than the game was on the line. The Bobcats perfect record and No. 1 ranking in the state hung in the balance. Bowers charged toward the ball, looked left the instant before his swinging leg made contact, and drilled the ball into the right corner of the goal past the fooled goalie. Game over: 2-1 Bobcats.
