Rush earns All-State honors

Lansing High junior Cody Rush has been named as an honorable mention selection to the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association's Class 5A All-State team.

Rush, a 6-foot-7 forward, led LHS with averages of 12.3 points and 6.9 rebounds during a season where the Lions posted a 15-7 record and advanced to the substate finals.

The first-team included Caydrick Bloomquist of Emporia, Clinton Mann of St. Thomas Aquinas, Travis Releford of Bishop Miege, and Highland Park's Adrian Herrera and Rico Richardson.

The second-team consisted of McPherson's Aaron Fazier, Highland Park's Ty Modupe, Marquez Patterson of Liberal, Stephen Shaw of Salina Central and Brett Steven of Wichita Bishop Carroll.

Joining Rush on the honorable mention squad were Luke Barnwell of Carroll, Kevin Booker of Wichita Kapaun-Mt. Carmel, Brian Johnson of Sumner Academy, Jordan Jueneman of Hays, Matt Kobbeman of Shawnee Heights, Bryce Simons of Topeka Seaman, Sean Stotler of Pittsburg, Jordan Voelker of Newton and Caleb Walker of Hutchinson.

Rush also was a first-team All-Kaw Valley League selection and was the third-leading vote-getter in the league.
