Providence-St. John Foundation names associate
Kansas City, Kan. The Providence St. John Foundation recently selected Becca Hurd as development associate.
Prior to accepting this position, Hurd served as a substance abuse case manager and development assistant with Heartland Regional Alcohol and Drug Assessment Center, Kansas City, Kan.
In her new position, Hurd is responsible for organizing the foundation's golf tournament, the hospitals' SHARE program, grants, scholarships and a variety of other projects. "Because my background is in social work, I have had the opportunity to refer a number of clients to Providence and to learn about the good work the hospital does," Hurd says. "I believe I can contribute to the foundation's mission to support the great care the hospital provides in this community."
"Thanks to her previous work experience, Becca is familiar with both our hospitals and community," says Mary Ellen Clark, foundation executive vice president. "She will be a tremendous asset to the work we are doing at the Providence St. John Foundation. She understands from first-hand experience the health care needs of Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties' residents."
Hurd's other work experience includes being a social worker for Social and Rehabilitation Services, Wyandotte County. She received her bachelor of social work degree from Kansas University, Lawrence, and is currently working on her master's of public administration at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She will graduate in May 2008 and plans to be married in June 2008.
Hurd also volunteers with Sunflower House, a child abuse prevention center serving Wyandotte and Johnson Counties. She resides in Kansas City, Mo., where she is active in her church, Jacob's Well.
