4-H Council Council reports on meeting
The bimonthly Leavenworth County 4-H Council was called to order at 8 p.m. by President Beth Scharinger. No minutes were read. There was one communication. The treasurer’s report was read also. There was no reporter’s report. Committee reports: 4-H Days committee talked about what would give the members incentive to come to 4-H Days. They will take the ideas back to their clubs and bring their response to the next County Council meeting. A Fair Book recommendation to change the dog rule was approved, but members did not approve a proposed change in the sheep book. Budget and Fundraiser Committee gave a report. The 4-H Camps committee set camp kick off day on May 28, 2009. Achievement Night committee discussed the past Achievement Night and how well it went. 4-H Promotion committee discussed camps for older 4-H’ers. Recognition committee approved Jacob Reynolds for the National 4-H Congress. Spring Fare committee presented three dates: June 13, 2009, June 20, 2009, and June 27, 2009, all at the Administration Building at the fairgrounds.
It was moved and seconded to give Jacob Reynolds the National 4-H Congress Award. The council also decided to move $5,000 to a CD.
In announcements, the shooting sport’s meeting is Dec. 9, at the Lansing 4-H Building. June 2-5, 2009, is Discovery Days. County Camp will be June 12-15, 2009. The meeting was adjourned.
