Art exhibit reminds us why we love sports
February 20, 2008
It often takes a great game to remind me of why I love sports. Sometimes it is a great article. Other times it is just being around an arena before the game and feeling the electricity of an event-the “there is no place I would rather be right now” feeling. Last week, though, I experienced a first.

BSHS girls put end to skid
February 20, 2008
For all the nights this season when the Bonner Springs girls basketball team has been at the receiving ends of blowout losses, this was their turn to have some fun. The Braves’ elixir on what could be called a long season, a cure for what ails a team that begins substate play in 10 days and hadn’t won a game since the Basehor-Linwood Invitational back in January None of that mattered on Monday as the Braves defeated Perry-Lecompton 59-22. “Yeah, it has been a long time since we had a win, it was the middle of the season,” coach Clay Oakes said. “I am happy for the girls. It has been tough to get a win. Things start to snowball and it becomes tough to get it.”

Government officials should avoid MLB’s steroid scandal
February 20, 2008
Well I guess all the readers have heard all they want regarding the Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds saga but I would like to put in my two cents. I cannot believe that sports have created such a fiasco. First of all, senators and congressmen should not get involved in professional sports. They have their hands full with legislative concerns like getting the price of gasoline down, wages up, and to me getting our kids out of Iraq should get a priority over professional sports. The government has the wrong persons in Clemens and Bonds.
