"Win state," he said. "That is my goal.

Seaton took the next step toward that accomplishment during the Class 4A regional competition at Perry-Lecompton on Saturday by winning the regional title in the 112-pound weight class.

He defeated Logan Singular of Clay Center 4-3 in the championship match of the tournament.

Seaton started the tournament by winning his first match over Nick Coffman of Piper by pin fall. He earned an 8-3 decision over Kane Lovvorn in the semifinal match.

Seaton is one of two Basehor-Linwood wrestlers who will wrestle in the state tournament in Salina.

Mike Torrez qualified for the Class 4A State Wrestling tournament this weekend by placing third at the the regional tournament.

Torrez defeated Malachi Scott of Wamego 7-1 in the consolation-finals, a rematch of a first-round bout between the two wrestlers.

From there, he defeated Kevin Licharowicz of Concordia by pin fall. The win ensured that he was going to the state tournament.
