City Council agenda
The Lansing City Council will consider an ordinance to rezone the property west of Kansas Highway 7 between 4-H Road and Kay Street that could become the future Lansing Towne Center complex in a regularly scheduled meeting tonight at 7 p.m.
On Dec. 19, the Lansing Planning Commission recommended in a 4-1 vote to adopt the ordinance, which carries with it, the approval of a preliminary development plan for Towne Center. The ordinance would rezone the area from B-3 Commercial Business and R-4 Multi-Family Residential to a planned unit development.
Two recommendations from the planning commission to require appropriate signage in the center's final development plan and to communicate to the Council concerns about maintenance and improvements to Kay Street are noted in the proposed ordinance.
Also at tonight's meeting at Lansing City Hall, 800 First Terrace the Council will:
¢ Consider approving a contract with Arcadia Publishing for a book detailing the history of Lansing. Royalties would go to the Kansas Regional Prisons Museum fund.
¢ Consider contracting with Leavenworth-based PenSword Publishing to create a 2008 Lansing Visitor's Guide
¢ Hear thank yous from City Administrator Mike Smith and representatives with the Mayor's Christmas Tree Program.
