Theater looking for musical performers

January 3, 2008

River City Community Players will conduct auditions for the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "Carousel."

Auditions will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, Tuesday, Jan. 8, and Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the Leavenworth Performing Arts Center at Fifth and Delaware streets. Callbacks will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Those trying out should be prepared to sing a song of your choice - preferably from a Broadway musical and not from "Carousel." An accompanist will be provided. Singing with a tape, compact disc or a cappella is discouraged.

Prospects are reminded to dress comfortably as they also will spend time with a choreographer to learn a few dance steps. There will be cold readings from the script.

All roles are available, and RCCP is looking for the following:

¢ Principal roles: three women, three men, ages early 20s to mid-30s.

¢ Featured roles: two women, two men, ages 20s to 40s.

¢ Large singing/dancing ensemble, ages mid-teens to 60s.

¢ Several children ages 5 to 16.

Performances will be March 7 and 8, March 14-16 and March 21 and 22.
