Basketball game times change
Complaints, delays prompt KVL girls varsity games to start earlier
A combination of nearly hour-long delays and complaints from parents and coaches throughout the Kaw Valley League about the 6 p.m. start time of varsity girls basketball games has prompted the league's athletics directors to make a change.
Effective immediately, all remaining varsity girls league games will be scheduled to tip at 5:45 p.m. Varsity boys games will begin 20 minutes after the conclusion of the girls' games.
Warm-ups still will last for 20 minutes for the varsity girls' games, but the schedule move is expected to eliminate as much as 30 minutes of down time before warm-ups begin.
All KVL schools have agreed to follow this new protocol.
With the exception of the Tonganoxie Invitational Tournament and postseason games, Lansing's only remaining non-KVL games will be played Friday. Start times for those games are as follows:
4 p.m. - JV boys and JV girls
5:30 p.m. - Varsity girls and freshman boys
7 p.m. - Varsity boys and freshman girls
