State GOP to vote on Feb. 9
Kansas Republicans who want to have a voice in choosing the Republican candidate for President may attend the Kansas GOP Presidential Caucus at 10 a.m. Feb. 9.
The Wyandotte County Caucus will be at Open Door Christian School, 3033 N. 103rd Terr., in the gym. In Johnson County, Shawnee Republicans will caucus at the West Glen Theatre, 16301 Midland Dr. Other caucuses in Johnson County will take place in Overland Park and Gardner.
Each participant must be a registered Republican by Jan. 25 and should bring a photo ID to the caucus; bringing a voter registration card also will facilitate the registration process.
Participants are encouraged to arrive early to campaign for their candidate.
At 10 a.m., there will brief presentations about each candidate with a secret vote to follow. The Kansas ballot will include: Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor; Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas Governor; Alan Keyes, former ambassador and author; U.S. Sen. John McCain; U.S. Congressman Ron Paul; Mitt Romney, former Massachusetts Governor; and former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson.
Candidates who win a majority of votes in two of the four Congressional districts will earn the support of Kansas delegates at the Republican National Convention in September 2008. For more information about the caucus, visit www.kscopcaucus.org.
