Geocaching’ course Jan. 26 at Schlagle Library

January 16, 2008

The Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle library, 4051 West Dr., will host a geocaching basics course from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 26.

Geocaching is a treasure-hunting game using a global positioning system receiver to hide and seek objects. The early part of the day will be spent learning how to use GPS and learning about geocaching.

For the beginner there will be a variety of caches to look for around the library in the afternoon. Advanced geocachers will learn more about the technology.

A few GPS units are available for checkout with a valid Kansas City, Kan. Library card.

Space is limited, and pre-registration is encouraged. To sign up call (913) 299-2384. The event is free and participants should bring finger food to share over lunch.
