Kansas Dems caucus Feb. 5

The Kansas Democratic Party will hold presidential caucuses Feb. 5 in each senate district across the state.

Doors at caucus sites open at 6 p.m., and anyone not in line by 7 p.m. will not be admitted.

All registered Democrats are eligible to participate and voter registration forms will be available at each caucus location for those wishing to register for the first time or change their party affiliation.

The Bonner caucus, District 5, will take place at the Woodlands Dog Track, 9700 Leavenworth Rd., Kansas City, Kan. Edwardsville, District 6, will take place at Turner Middle School, 1312 S. 55th St., Kansas City, Kan.

The Shawnee caucus will take place in the theater at Mill Valley High School, 5900 Monticello Rd.

Kansans attending the caucuses will gather with Democrats from their community to voice support for their favorite presidential candidate. These caucuses are part of the national process of nominating the Democratic candidate for President. The process culminates with the Democratic National Convention during the week of Aug. 25-28 in Denver, Colo.

Candidates in the Kansas caucus are: New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton; North Carolina Sen. John Edwards; Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel; Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich; Illinois Sen. Barack Obama; and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson.
