Library makes finding school AR books easy, fun
Did you know that the Lansing Community Library has a copy of the Advanced Reading list for Lansing Elementary, Intermediate and Middle schools?
In each school's notebook, we have highlighted the titles that our library carries. The library has more than 4,000 AR books for Lansing schools. However, the library does not have AR tests available. The tests must be taken at the schools.
Most of the library's AR books are located in the pink section on the red wall, as you enter the children's room. However, the nonfiction books will be in the nonfiction section and the adult books will be in the adult room. These locations will be noted on the AR list next to the title.
Patrons now have the capability of finding books by their reading level and point value on the library's Web site. Log in to lansing.ks.us, select the "Residents" tab and select catalog twice. Next, type in your school code (LES Lansing Elementary School; LIS Lansing Intermediate School; LMS Lansing Middle School) then space, then your reading level, (Example: LES 2.1 is Lansing Elementary School, Reading Level 2.1) then hit enter. This will pull up a list of all books the library has with that reading level for your school. The library's system does not have the capability to search a reading range, each level must be searched individually. You can also look up any AR book and find the reading level in the record's notes.
With the new semester under way, this is a good time to visit the AR section of the library and see what we have to offer.
