Burglars hit four Bonner Springs businesses
A rash of burglaries hit four Bonner Springs businesses recently, ranging from a hotel to an aluminum fabrication company to a used-car dealership.
On Jan. 14 someone broke into the Super 8 Hotel, 13041 Ridge Dr., and stole three televisions, two bedspreads, two pillows and a coffee pot. The estimated loss was for $1,800, and damage was done to the door locks and wall brackets.
Earlier the same day a 9 mm handgun, two pairs of overalls, two coats, two tool sets and other items, with a total estimated value of $1,020 were stolen from Alumicorp, 12600 Kaw Dr.
At JM Auto Sales, 11934 Kaw Dr., an estimated $10,000 in damage was done to three vehicles in apparent attempts to steal the vehicles, and another vehicle at the same lot had stereo equipment estimated to be worth $980 stolen from the car, plus $400 worth of damage done to the car door.
At a structure owned by Southwest Contractors, on the 12000 block of Kaw Drive, a tape recorder and weed trimmer were stolen, and damage was done to the structure door, apparently with a pry bar, for losses totaling $280.
All the crimes were committed between 6:30 a.m., Jan. 14 and just after midnight Jan. 15.
Bonner Springs Police Lt. Rick Schubert said he couldn't speculate as to whether all the burglaries were related, though of course the ones at the car lot most likely were committed by the same person or people.
Schubert asks that anyone with information about these crimes call the police department at (913) 422-2169.
