New commander to take reins at Munson Army Health Center
Fort Leavenworth Col. Andrea Crunkhorn will assume command of the Munson Army Health Center during a change-of-command ceremony at 8 a.m. June 25.
Crunkhorn comes to Fort Leavenworth from Camp Zama, Japan, where she served as the commander of the Medical Department Activity. She will replace Col. Carmen L.C. Rinehart, who has been at Munson since June 2006. Rinehart will become the chief of staff of the Great Plains Regional Medical Command at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Medical care has existed on Fort Leavenworth since its founding in 1827. A hospital was one of the two earliest permanent buildings constructed after the arrival of Henry Leavenworth and the Soldiers of the Third Infantry. Today, Munson Army Health Center serves active duty, retirees, family members, and the inmates of the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks.
The change-of-command ceremony will be at 8 a.m. June 25 on the Main Parade at Fort Leavenworth. The ceremony is open to the public. Main Parade is off Kearney and Grant avenues.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be at the Lewis and Clark Center's Eisenhower Auditorium. The Lewis and Clark Center is at 100 Stimson Ave.
