Basehor-Linwood girls qualify for state

Team plays at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday against Holton

The Basehor-Linwood  girls basketball team won the sub-state championship 4A game Saturday after defeating Eudora 62-44. The Bobcats now will advance to state tournament in Salina this week.

The Basehor-Linwood girls basketball team knocked Eudora out of the postseason Saturday and propelled itself into the girls 2008 4A State Tournament.

Led by seniors Cassie Lombardino, with 24, and Ashley Jeannin, with 14, Basehor coasted to a 62-44 victory.

"Two keys, and we've been telling the girls the last two days, was have fun and play your game," Basehor coach Noah Simpson said. "When we decide to really enjoy what we're doing, we play pretty well."

The victory puts the Bobcats into the Class 4A girls state tournament which begins Wednesday. The Bobcats will play Holton at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. The winner of the game would play at 3 p.m. Friday in the semifinal game.
