Library prepares for ice cream party
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Register now for our William Allen White Ice Cream Party, which will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1. To be eligible, patrons must be in third through eighth grade and must have read at least three of the 2008 nominees. During the party, we will vote for our favorite book from the list, play games and introduce the 2009 nominees. If you vote at school, you are still eligible for the Library's party; you simply will not vote during the party. Register now for this event and see what's new for next year.
Springo, the library's Spring Reading Program, will end March 31. Please be sure to return your bingo cards to the library by then. All prizes will be awarded at Family Night at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 15.
Patrons Performing Poetry
Please plan to participate in our 'Patrons Performing Poetry Program' to be presented at Family Night at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in celebration of National Poetry Month. Patrons interested in participating may select a poem from the library's collection and must register in the library no later than Friday, April 11. We have a large selection of poetry books to choose from. If you don't wish to perform, please plan to be a part of our audience and enjoy the poetry!
Lansing Community Library began issuing replacement cards in February. The new cards are more durable and come with a key tag as well. If you have not yet upgraded to the new card, stop in soon to get one. It only takes a few minutes. The old red cards will no longer be valid after April 30. There is no fee for the library card upgrade.
The library hosts a weekly story-time at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. Story-time includes theme-based stories along with a game, craft or other activity. Story-time is geared for preschoolers, but all ages are welcome to participate.
Lansing Community Library hours of operation are: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
