Bonner woman wins $10,000 in lottery

November 5, 2008

Bonner Springs resident Lori Van Fleet won $6,000 playing the Kansas Lottery recently.

Van Fleet bought the $1 Triple Tripler instant scratch ticket at Bonner Springs Price Chopper, 501 S. Commercial Drive.

“I’m not sure when I actually bought the ticket,” said Van Fleet. “When I go to the grocery store, I put my scratch tickets in my purse to scratch later. Sometimes I forget about them. Yesterday during my lunch hour, I noticed I had tickets in my purse and decided I’d better get them scratched. I was so surprised when I won $6,000. I’ve never won anything over $10.”

After checking the winning ticket several times, Van Fleet called her husband Larry to share to good news.

“I don’t think he really believed me until I showed him the ticket,” said Van Fleet. “My parents and kids are excited for me.”

Van Fleet and her husband Larry, who have been married 20 years, have two children. They plan to pay bills with their prize money and save some for Christmas.

So which is it, $6,000 or $10,000 in winnings?
