Basehor band boosters offer spaghetti dinners
Basehor-Linwood High School Band Boosters will be serving spaghetti prior to the Friday and Saturday night performances of the school’s fall musical.
For $5, those dining will receive a plate of spaghetti, salad and garlic bread.
Proceeds from the dinners, which will run from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the BLHS small gymnasium, will help with the cost of the band’s trip in April to a music festival in Winter Park, Colo.
Band members this fall have competed in two festivals, receiving an overall rating of 1 from Central States Festival and a 2 overall rating from the Neewollah Festival.
Their trip to Winter Park, in which students will perform with the Concert Band, is estimated to cost $750 per student. Students who wish to attend have been working soccer concessions, MATS meet concessions and selling citrus. They’ll also assist with this weekend’s spaghetti dinner and will participate in an upcoming Panera Bread coupon sale to help pay for their trip.
On Feb. 22, the Band Boosters will put on a Jazz Night in which Jazz Band will perform and prizes donated by area businesses will be raffled.
