Lansing off to fast start in KVL volleyball
September 17, 2008
Defending KVL champion Lansing is off to a strong start on the volleyball court.
The Lions rolled through their home tournament on Saturday and then picked up three more victories on Tuesday night. They now stand at 11-0 and own a No. 3 state ranking in Class 5A. That ranking will be put to the test on Saturday at the Hayden Invitational where LHS could face 5A No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas and 4A No. 1 St. James Academy, as well as 4A No. 2 Hayden.
Mill Valley opened the season ranked No. 5 in Class 5A, but the Jaguars stumbled out of the gates against a tough schedule. They finished third on Saturday at the Baldwin Invitational, however, and now are 5-6 this season.
Tonganoxie (2-0) is receiving votes for the Class 4A poll.

How has the recent heat advisory altered your daily activities?
“Actually, we’ve spent more time outside lately working hardcore on our backyard doing some major landscaping. Lots of water breaks helped us through it. Since being outside so much, the warm weather doesn’t phase me anymore.”
