BLHS soccer tops Cair Paravel, falls to Piper
Basehor-Linwood soccer players played three games in three days this week, concluding with Wednesday’s game against De Soto.
Results of the De Soto game were unavailable at press time but can be found online at basehorinfo.com. The first two games were decided by single goals. If nothing else, the Bobcats have shown an ability to play close games.
They experienced the joys of winning a close game one day and the pains of falling short the next.
Jenni Cisweski scored on a penalty kick with 15 minutes remaining in Monday’s season opener against Cair Paravel.
The goal, which gave Basehor a 2-1 lead, was the difference in the game.
BLHS held on for the victory. Carol Smith started as goalie and earned the victory. Hannah Kenton also scored a goal.
Coach Jaclyn Naster said it is a victory her team can build on.
“I hope that it will set a positive tone for the rest of the season,” she said. “It would be nice to have a great rest of the week.”
After trailing early in the game, Basehor-Linwood scored a goal and took the momentum.
While Naster hoped it would carry over the rest of the week, BLHS lost to Piper, 2-1, on Tuesday.
Piper scored a goal with 1:45 left to play in the second half and won the game 2-1. Brittany Randall scored for BLHS.
