Bobcat golfers 12th at Osawatomie Invitational
As if setting a school record in the high jump on Thursday wasn’t enough, Basehor-Linwood junior Bobby Courtney continued his stellar week Saturday with the BLHS golf team at the Osawatomie Invitational.
Courtney had one of his best rounds of the season as he fired an 80 and placed seventh out of 105 players at the tournament.
Joseph Lambert of Kansas City Christian was the tournament champion with a 71. Kurt Walker of Topeka Hayden finished second with a 77. The third-, fourth- and fifth-place finishers all shot 79.
KCC won the team title with a 316, Hayden finished second at 328 and Ottawa placed third with 333. BLHS shot a 358.
On Tuesday, Courtney finished in sixth place at the Atchison Invitational. He was tied for fourth with a 79 at the end of the round but ended up sixth after a playoff.
Again, Kansas City Christian’s Lambert won the tournament, this time with a 72. Parker Miller of Bonner Springs was the runner-up with a 74 and Nathan McKenzie of KCC was third with a 78.
Chris Douglas added an 86 for BLHS and Toon Dejong fired an 89.
KCC finished in first place at the tournament with a team score of 310. Tonganoxie took second with a 327, Lansing was third with 332 and Bonner Springs placed fourth with 342. BLHS took fifth with a 346.
Basehor-Linwood next plays at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ottawa Invitational at Ottawa Country Club.
