Bobcats’ Douglas signs with Ottawa
Chris Douglas, a 2009 Basehor-Linwood High School graduate, recently signed a letter of intent to play college golf at Ottawa University.
Douglas played on the varsity squad at BLHS for four years. He placed 26th at the Class 4A state tournament in 2007 and also helped his team win a Kaw Valley League championship.
Douglas’ golf game was enhanced thanks in part to his success with the BLHS powerlifting program. He won a state title in the 114-pound weight class this year and piled up numerous other victories throughout the season.
Douglas joins Brandon Montgomery of Neodesha in the 2009-2010 recruiting class.
“I am very excited about both of these young men joining our program,” Ottawa coach Wendell Smith said. “Chris and Brandon are both solid students and unselfish team players who happen to be good golfers. They share a common hunger to improve on a daily basis on the course, in the classroom and in life. They have demonstrated the ability to find balance between athletics and academics, and both are well-rounded student-athletes. I look forward to seeing them succeed at Ottawa.”
Douglas is the son of Anne Douglas. He plans to major in biology.
