10 Years Ago (Dec. 2, 1999)

Randy Briggs, driver of NASCAR Craftsman truck 53, visited the Little Friends Preschool in Basehor. His nephew Jacob Folsom was a member of the class.

Katrina Rollins was shown in a photo visiting with Santa Claus in Edwardsville.

25 Years Ago (Dec. 6. 1984)

The Spanish Club at Bonner Springs High School was making piñatas for the annual piñata-posada celebration in Edwardsville.

Richard Long was named “student of the month” at Pioneer Jr. High.

50 Years Ago (Dec. 3, 1959)

Season tickets for Bonner Springs High School basketball games were on sale for $4 for adults and $2 for students.

100 Years Ago (Dec. 2, 1909)

In an editorial, the Chieftain condemned public dancing. “There can be no question that the public dance is the cause of almost as much sorrow and shame as the saloon,” the editorial stated. Evangelist Bader attacked public dancing during a revival at the Christian Church.

The David home was decorated in Kansas University colors in honor of the KU-MU football game.

Frank Warner had two employees making concrete blocks for the spring building season. He planned to have 2,000 blocks available by spring.
