Animal shelter waiving cat, kitten adoption fees

December 17, 2009

For a limited time, Leavenworth Animal Control is waiving the adoption fee for all adoptable cats and kittens at the facility. With a donation to the shelter of dry cat or kitten food, prospective adopters will be able to adopt the feline of their choice and have the adoption fee waived. The program will be offered until Jan. 1, 2010.

Many of the felines are already spayed or neutered and ready for a home. A state required alter bond will be charged for animals that have not been spayed or neutered.

This initiative is being offered for the first time by Leavenworth Animal Control and is part of Leavenworth’s efforts to successfully find homes for animals from the facility.

Stop by the shelter at 1720 S. Second Street in Leavenworth and take home a cat for Christmas. Animals available for adoption can be viewed online at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/lv.html. Leavenworth Animal Control hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. For more information, call (913) 682-0268.
