Briana R. Barron has been named to the dean’s list at Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wis.

• Tom Cooley, District 7 commissioner of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kan., was elected chair of the MARC Board of Directors at its board meeting Jan. 27. Cooley is a former Bonner Springs city manager and continues to live in Bonner Springs. He was the featured speaker at last week’s meeting of the Edwardsville Kiwanis Club.

• Matthew Murrell, Basehor, has been named to Northeastern State University’s President’s Honor Roll for the fall 2008 semester. To be eligible for the President’s Honor Roll, students must complete at least 12 hours of undergraduate classes with a 4.0 grade-point average at the Tahlequah, Okla., university.

• Nicole Kirk and Courtney Kirkpatrick, both of Basehor, have been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2008 semester at Avila University in Kansas City, Mo.
