Seaton advances to state semifinals
Basehor-Linwood sophomore Symon Seaton's bid for a Class 4A wrestling state championship continues.
Seaton is off to a good start at the Bicentennial Center in Salina. He defeated his first-round opponent, Troy Clarke of Chanute, 6-2. Then Seaton advanced to the next round where he edged Alex Bontz of Wichita Independent, 5-4.
Seaton will compete in the 125-pound semifinals later tonight against Kyle Johnson of Columbus.
Seaton's rival, Derrick Weller of Piper, lost in the second round and fell into the consolation bracket.
Four other BLHS wrestlers are in action at state but lost their first-round matches. Mike Torrez was pinned in the third period by Clay Mulligan of Scott City at 103 pounds. Miles Brown was pinned by Adadm Leedy of Chanute in the third period at 130 pounds. Garrett Kahle was pinned by B.T. O'Hara of Columbus at 135 pounds. Joh Johnson dropped a 7-3 decision to Jake Hattabaugh of Andale at 145 pounds. All four will face elimination matches later today.
