BLHS girls rout Turner, improve to 5-0
The Basehor-Linwood girls basketball team defeated Turner 48-8 on Friday.
On average, Basehor-Linwood defenders held Turner to two points per quarter.
The Bobcats outscored the Bears 19-0 in the second quarter and led 28-3 at halftime. The rout continued in the second half as Basehor-Linwood rolled to victory.
Megan Bergstrom led the team with 16 points. Macyn Sanders scored 10 points.
They led BLHS on a night when the Bobcats struggled shooting the ball.
“I thought we played hard; we had one of the worst shooting nights that we have had and hopefully will have this season,” coach Noah Simpson said. “To say that and score 48 points is a good sign.”
Bren Koontz and Cassie Bever did not score in the game. Both usually are among the team’s leading scorers.
With the win, Basehor-Linwood moves to 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Kaw Valley League. The team plays at Bishop Ward on Tuesday.
A full recap of Friday’s game will be in next week’s Basehor Sentinel.
