Basehor resident completes Kansas Ironman race

Basehor resident Chris Maleta successfully completed the Kansas Ironman race on Sunday, June 14, at Clinton Lake State Park in Lawrence. Maleta finished 1,183rd overall in 6:26.31 and was the 117th finisher in the men’s 25-29 age group. The 70.3-mile race began with a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run.
Luke Bell of Australia was the overall men’s winner in 3:49.35. Chrissie Wellington of Great Britain was the women’s champion in 4:14.52.
