KCKCC plans annual spring break trip
Kansas City Kansas Community College’s 38th Annual Spring Break Trip Abroad will take travelers to Peru and the historic “Lost City of the Incas,” Machu Pichu.
Scheduled for March 10-16, 2010, the trip will also include an optional extension to Ecuador and a four-day cruise March 16-22through the Galapagos Islands.
The trip will begin in Lima with visits to the catacombs of San Francisco Church and the Inquisition Museum; and Cuzco, the center of the Inca empire nestled high in the Andes.
A railway journey through the Urubamba River Valley along vistas of snow-capped Andean peaks, Indian villages and terraced fields will take travelers to Machu Pichu, the archaeological jewel of South America known throughout the world for its amazing ruins and stunning location high in the mountains. The return to Lima will include stops in Chincheros near Cuzco, the Incan fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Barrio San Blas and the Temple of the Sun.
The optional extension will include flights to Quito, the capital of Ecuador, and San Cristobal Island for boarding the Explorer II for a four-day cruise to the Galapagos Islands.
Cost of the Peru/Machu Pichu trip is $3,199 double occupancy ($3,469 for single) and includes all flights from Kansas City, lodging at first-class hotels, transfers, daily breakfasts and some lunches and dinners. Deposits of $450 per person will assure reservations. The cost of the Galapagos Extension is $2,499 ($3,529 single).
