July 23, 2009
The Kansas City T-Bones, a Northern League baseball team, will pay homage to Kansas City’s original major league baseball franchise, the Kansas City A’s, on Aug. 8 when they play host to the second annual Kansas City A’s Reunion Night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
This event is presented by the Kansas City Baseball Historical Society. The KCBHS was formed in the fall of 2008 to promote the exchange of baseball history to all fans of Kansas City baseball.
Prior to the T-Bones’ 7:05 p.m. game against the Gary SouthShore RailCats, fans will be able to partake in an autograph session with A’s personnel from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. A donation of $10 will be required per item, with proceeds benefitting the KCBHS.
So far, the list of former A’s players expected to attend includes Alex George, Bill Landis, Bill Fischer, Diego Segui, John O’Donoghue, Jay Hankins, Mike Hersnerger, Glen Cox, Don Buschhorn, George Toma, “Gentleman” Jim Gentile, Rollie Sheldon, Lew Krausse, Joe Grzenda, Billy Kirk, Jerry Lumpe, Chuck Dobson, Phil Roaf and Tom Harrison.
For more information, as well as additional player announcements as they become available, go online to tbonesbaseball.com.
To purchase tickets for the game, go to the T-Bones’ Web site or call the box office at (913) 328-5618.
