KCKCC to offer karate camp
A karate camp for youths in kindergarten through second grade will be offered at Kansas City Kansas Community College, beginning Monday, June 29.
A four-day camp running from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday will be at KCKCC’s West State Plaza campus at 80th Street and State Avenue.
Instructor Chris Hutchings will introduce participants to the basics of Chinese martial arts by using fun games that are geared toward kids. Fundamentals of self-defense, both verbal and physical, will be taught.
The course is designed to provide an understanding of the core values of martial arts such as courtesy, honesty, respect and discipline.
Students completing the camp will earn a white belt and certificate, participate in a graduation ceremony and receive an invitation to try a free month at AKKA Karate in Westport, Mo.
